Another unbearable shame: thousands of immigrants remain adrift in Southeast Asia

Thursday, June 18, 2015

Thousands of immigrants remain adrift. And the lack of solidarity of the states of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) in the Andaman Sea is similar to that of the EU in the Mediterranean. Here, instead of substantial aid -so diminished in the last years because "you have to pay the debt" - European leaders sent naval vessels to block their path. There are closed sea borders and the nations involved blame each other ... while the occupants of the barges, mostly Muslims "Rohingya", fleeing the extreme poverty are at serious risk of starvation.

It is a shame, one more, while the plutocratic groups (G7, G8 ...) on which the neoliberals substituted the United Nations, with the ethics and compass lost, are becoming delinquents. And -now!-the unsupportive countries appeal to the UN.

Before it is too late, will they become aware that a "United Nations of emergency” should be re-founded?

A great outcry should raise in-person and digital, in every town of Earth.

"Complicit silence".
