Weapons, weapons, weapons. Again, security instead of peace

Again security is prevailing -the immense business of security- on peace.  Again the war vultures are winners.  There was no money to reduce the huge social gaps, helping endogenous development and avoid these desperate migrations…. and now, suddenly, there is a lot of money for war.

A war impact with Iran was already attempted, after the shameful and intentional invasion of Iraq, based on simulation and lies. But Obama’s posture avoided it.

Then when Israel bombed schools and hospitals, NATO, as does in these cases, looked away.

 During Syrian war it was warned that some insurgents were not "civil society" but jihadist fighters and Al-Qaeda fanatics.

By the way, it has been said and repeated that jihadists received subsidies from Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Is this true? Tell us, is it true? Because if it were, the only responsible and acceptable reaction would be immediately stop trading with these countries, denounce them ... and Barça and other beneficiaries should remove the names of these countries from their shirts...

Is it true, might be true the "axis" Saudi Arabia-Qatar-Israel-US Republican Party? Tell us no, prove that it is not true! We sincerely hope that the answer is no.

But if, once again,  rockets and bombers’ manufacturing  are again put into operation while thousands of human beings are still starving and helpless every day, while many others are forced to leave their homes to avoid extreme poverty ... then "We, the peoples ..." would severely ask an explanation to those who govern. To those who have marginalized the United Nations; to those who have imposed the plutocratic groups G6, G8 ...; to those who changed the democratic principles by markets; to those who are rubbing their hands now announcing ("El País", September 6, 2014) that "The 28 allies (NATO) agree to spend more on defense due to new challenges."

After a failed coup d’état in Ukraine, the European Union is mobilized ... What the "quartet" has made? What the ineffable Mr. Blair has made during the tragic attacks on Palestine?

The force on reason, the bullets over the words have always prevailed in a world historically yielded to absolute male power.

But this took place when humans were silent, fearful, obedient, submissive. Now they are not anymore.

Willing or unwilling to recognize the "clinging" to inertia and their privileges, the time of their dominance, their shadowed and unexplained actions, of unlimited influence of the intelligence services... is coming to an end.

Of course we must urgently ensure that fanatics do not continue committing atrocities! but ensuring, at the sight of military material already available, that these actions are not an excuse for another intolerable growth of arms production.

Citizen power, in a short period of time, will imply that peace prevails and that the dragons of war will leave the scene that have heretofore occupied.

Citizen power will refound a democratic multilateralism, a United Nations for the new era.

Citizen power, the word. Citizen power to the historic transition "from force  to word”.

Immigration in Europe: instead of solutions, contradictions

Since the founding of the United Nations, international cooperation –the keyword was to share- had the essential objective to get an integral and endogenous development on all countries (afterwards the meaning of “sustainable” came out).

So, just like this, making it possible that all human beings might have in their own countries the means to a decent life, would prevent flows of desperate migrants, because in their land, exploited rather than helped, were starving.

Spain claimed many migrants when needed them in prospering times, -without regularization! - and now, in the era of hard times, puts fences full of blades to prevent entry ... And all witness with a wounded heart, the arrival of people in illegal boats or basic ships to Spanish or Italian shores

expelled from their homelands due to extreme poverty.

And the Europe of traders rather than strengthening development aid, decreases drastically. And UNDP does the same. And the President of the Spanish Government "requires to Europe a convincing response to illegal immigration" when our country has cut development aid very sharply.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation is right when he declares that "the pressure on the southern borders of Europe will persist until wealth is created in the countries of origin”! The shameful is that the cooperation promoted in his Ministry is almost nonexistent.

Solutions and fewer contradictions!

EBOLA

It cannot be! It cannot be that the "developed world" continue to protect its security by surrounding itself with sophisticated fighter-bombers and rockets ... without reflecting upon humans (80%!) living in abject conditions and  suffering “distant” disease....

But now it turns out -as warned the ignored guard towers of science and medicine- that "far", the "third world" can be close and disrupt the lives of the dealers.

Europe, counting and counting, is unable to see further of its short-sighted interests.  Now it will react with fear because it has failed to do so by prospective capacity and distributive justice.

Europe, do react!  Less NATO, missiles and more attention to health care, to research. Great fortunes of the world react, because you can still help rebuilding and redressing current trends and because it is always good to remember that "the shrouds do not have pockets"!

Let’s see if once we stop wasting resources of all for the supremacy of a few, and we can take care of so many human beings who die from diseases that could have been treated or prevented with proper research; persons dying of hunger and marginalization and that instead of cooperation for human development, are cruelly exploited and so many have to leave their homelands; humans suffering the terrible attacks of fanatics that only a world governance based on democratic multilateralism could effectively and timely counteract and prevent.

A radical change is urgent, a historic turning point for the first time will count –whether the traditional powers want it or not- with the essential citizen collaboration. To transit from a culture of imposition and violence to a culture of dialogue and reconciliation is now possible.

Let’s learn the lessons that Ebola teaches us today before it is too late. The best contrition is to take action from now on. As the saying: “We only remember Santa Barbara when it thunders". ("Time and tide wait for no man”). It thunders now and strongly. Stop arming -China, Japan ...-; stop ruling by the "Ibex"; stop looking at the world through fogged windows of money; ... Invest in human development so that no one is forced to leave their places of origin. Invest in education, which is the irreplaceable base of a decent life. Invest in research and health care.... 

Listen to the voice of the people. Democracy -I like to insist- is not counting occasional citizens at the polls but to ensure that citizens count, that are taken into account.

Do not forget that there are no "distant countries" but invisible and unnoticed human beings. They are already closer. Maybe too close. Bear it in mind permanently.
